What this quiz actually tells you
What it can reliably tell you
Twenty questions can't replace a certified placement exam, but they can reliably flag whether you've absorbed the specific building blocks that make up CEFR A1: basic greetings, the present tense of "ser," simple vocabulary, and the kind of short exchanges you'd need to survive a first conversation. Scoring consistently high across every category in the breakdown above is a genuine signal those basics are internalized, not just half-remembered.
What it can't tell you
It can't measure listening comprehension, since every question here is written text, not audio. It can't judge pronunciation, your ability to hold a real-time conversation, or how you handle vocabulary outside the topics this particular quiz covers. A1 as a CEFR level spans a wide range of situational language, greetings, numbers, family, basic descriptions, and no twenty-question quiz can sample all of it. Treat a strong score as "the fundamentals are there," not as an official certification.
How it's built
Each question is tagged to one of four areas, vocabulary, grammar and verbs, conversation, and numbers and time, so the result isn't just a single number. The breakdown you get at the end shows exactly which of those four areas is strongest and which one is dragging the score down, so there's a clear answer to where the next study session should actually go.
A note on honesty and guessing
This is a self-test, not a proctored exam. Nothing stops anyone from guessing or looking answers up mid-quiz, and nothing here can catch that. The honesty of the result depends entirely on how honestly it's taken, which is the whole reason it's worth answering the way you actually would if a stranger asked you these things on the street, not the way you'd answer with a dictionary open.
